In 2007, the municipality of Mashhad via ISCO was selected as the Regional Office of the Metropolis Women Int’l Network.
Our objective in this regard is to create a strong network between regional women active in urban issues, the Metropolis Women International Network, the Metropolis Association, and other domestic, regional, and international links.
By this network, we intend to promote and encourage healthy relationships between government entities and their stakeholders (in particular females), and educate both in urban issues relevant to the well-being of females and increase women’s participation in policymaking processes.
Thus far our activities have been:
- Held an international workshop on “Strategic Planning” with the special invitation of all Iranian female city council members in 2007.
- Announced the conference “Dynamic Cities Need Women” held in Brussels and Seoul, co-hosted by the Metropolis.
- Arranged for representatives of Mashhad to give presentations in the Brussels' conference.
- Collected over 100 papers by active Iranian women nationwide on the topics covered by the Brussels conference.
- Evaluation by university professors of the above articles and selection of the top five papers for recognition
- Collecting contact information of active women’s NGOs, and organizations nationwide to put into a large database.
- The dissemination of information on our workshops to women managers and policy makers.
- Commissioning a report on the Needs of Iranian Women in 2010.
- And so on………..
